Yup most of us do, but not the crabs that you are thinking of! I am referring to those crabby friends of ours. Let me explain. I know you have all heard of the phenomenon of Crabs in a bucket. You know where if you put a bunch of crabs in a bucket they will all stay there because if one tries to crawl out then another grabs him and pulls him down. It’s amazing how they can’t realize that if one is able to crawl out of the bucket then maybe, just maybe they all can crawl out too. Well when it comes to you doing something positive, you always have those crabs that try to pull you down and keep you from succeeding.
This especially happens when someone sets out on a journey to lose weight. You know the saying, “Misery loves company”. You may set out to conquer that fat demon that has been hounding you all these years and as soon as you start working out and eating right you have that friend or friends who try to tell you that you don’t have to work out tonight. Or that you should skip a workout and go hang out with them. You know, those friends that will start ragging on you when you go out and forgo those beers for water or Fried chicken wings for salmon. Yes, I know you know who I’m talking about. It can be very frustrating at times because many of these people are close to you or in your everyday life somehow.
Don’t be discouraged though. Know that this is going to happen and prepare yourself when the enemy attacks. You also have to surround yourself with supportive people. It makes dealing with the crabs a lot easier when you have that support system in place that will keep you encouraged, excited and accountable to your goals. So ask yourself, who in your circle of friends is supportive of you and who is the negative one in the group? Identify them. Feed off of the positive and shun the negative. Your will and determination might just become infectious and rub off on them and show them to that they to can transform their bodies and one day crawl out of the bucket.
